So life's been fairly good recently, though certainly not without its ups and downs.
Friday our volleyball team lost its first game in 6 years. 64 straight wins, gone. It was even tougher that it was a game that went to 5 sets and that we had a chance to win against a team that probably won't make it to the finals. It hurt. I'm worried about Berkeley Carroll on Tuesday. Ugh.
On the other hand, Friday night we went out to dinner for Molly's birthday, which was fun and kinda cheered me up. Then I went to Mike's house, where I played ping pong with Jordan and he kicked my ass, thus sparking the "who's the better Yalie?" argument, which was also perpetuated by the fact that we both were wearing our Yale t-shirts. I stayed relatively sober because I wanted to be sure I was mildly coherent when I talked to Noelle on the phone, since it's been just three days and I already seriously miss her...*sigh*.
Saturday morning, driver's ed was cancelled for no apparent reason, costing me an hour and a half of precious travel time. Luckily Ravi had her cab driver drop me off near my house, which was very nice of her. We had a good conversation about college, Dartmouth, Yale, and why she ended up not applying to Yale and to Dartmouth.
Then Saturday night I met up with some future Yalies (whoo hoo) at woolen_castles Nadja's house, along with kainiac Alex, zeropointfour Jonah, and bluecamelot Chris. We roamed around the city until we found some pizza, then went to Cold Stone and got them to sing to us for giving a tip, and then sat in Starbucks. Overall, I met some really cool people and it made me really excited for college. :)
And so, off I go on Sunday to Yale. My parents and I are heading up there early tomorrow morning so that I can show them around campus, since they've never been. Then we're going to the Diversity Dinner, and then my parents will be heading home. (Yay for New Haven being a convenient hour and a half train ride from the city!) And then Monday morning I launch into a fully scheduled two days of fun Yale-ness.
Which means...you all should be worried. Cuz I just might not come back. ;-)

Whoa...2 gigs now? When did that happen??
Anyways, if any of you suckers out there still don't have one, I have 50 invites left. Theyre moving out of beta and they'll be open to everyone soon, but if you can't wait (and trust me, you can't, gmail is awesome) then you should tell me and i'll get you an account.
So, it's been a while since I've written anything. Since it is a new year and all, I figured it'd be a good time to step out of hibernation again.
First of all,
HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!!
Here's to 2005 being as crazy and stressful and fun and happy and sad and confusing and generally eventful as this past year.
I guess I should talk about how I did in terms of last year's resolutions, conveniently posted on this very same Livejournal 366 days ago...
3.66 (A-) GPA a hot girlfriend learn how to drive and get a car remain pot-free get into college be a good, happy person
Alright, so a month ago it would've seemed like a rather unsuccessful year, but due to a late December comeback stretch it turns out that I didn't do so badly. Generally I think I've been a pretty good and happy person, I think, though there might've been moments where that wouldn't have exactly been how I'd have described myself. I didn't learn how to drive yet, but my parents promise to let me second semester of senior year. I'm still pot-free, I managed to pull off that A- average by the end of junior year, surprisingly, (A- in Snook's euro history class, whoo hoo!) and even upped my GPA to a ridiculous 3.96 first quarter of senior year, considering how I'm pretty much the biggest slacker in Packer.
As for the girlfriend...this year has definitely provided the highest of highs and the lowest of lows romantically, and it's been frustrating and weird and dramatic...but I'm working on the actual girlfriend part. Really. Hopefully in a future post I will be able more specific about my love life...
Perhaps the biggest news of the year, however, pertains to the remaining resolution...I've been refraining from posting about it for a while, but for those of you that don't know, I'm now a member of...
YALE CLASS OF 2009
I found out the night of the choral concert, December 15th, and I checked at approximately 8:20 pm in Packer's main hallway and it was all very exciting and scary and suchhhh a relief. I feel very very very lucky because I personally knew at least 25 people who applied early and were all very very qualified and out of those only 3 of them got in, including myself. For those of you who do read this journal, best of luck to you in your college processes and I'm sure you all will get into good schools yourselves.
Anyhow, this will be my school next year...heeee i'm so excited!
